Church History

In June of 2005 while serving as the Assistant Pastor and Youth Pastor of Tabernacle of Faith Church, Inc. of the United Evangelical Outreach Ministries of Winston-Salem, God began dealing with Elder Phillip G. McCloud concerning a Pastoral calling. At this time, Elder McCloud was serving under his mentor, Apostle Brenda J. McCloud in which he began to consult her on this issue. As he continued serving the church, in 2006 God spoke again and this time revealed the name “Fresh Fire Worship Center”. Again, Elder McCloud consulted with his mentor and was advised to wait until an appointed time. Elder Phillip McCloud tarried yet a little while longer until finally the appointed time came. In December of 2006, God instructed Elder McCloud to step out on His word. And likewise as Samuel was to Eli, so was Elder Mc Cloud to his mentor, and mother, Apostle Brenda J. McCloud. Being obedient to the voice of the Lord, the first meeting of Fresh Fire Worship Center was held at the Brown and Douglas Recreation Center in Winston-Salem, NC on Thursday, January 4, 2007 with 7 members in attendance. The first worship service was held that following Sunday, January 7th at 8:00 AM at “His Sister’s Place” located on South Main Street in Winston Salem. Finally after meeting and believing God for a place to worship, Winston Lake Family YMCA allowed FFWC to meet on Sunday mornings beginning on Sunday, February 7th at 10 AM for worship services. Mid week services such as Bible Study, Prayer Meetings and rehearsals were moved from the home of Pastor McCloud and alternately other church members to the North Hampton NAACP Enrichment Center.

God has proven Himself faithful to His word concerning the church and promises to Pastor PG McCloud, Sr. Believing that it is God who adds to the church daily, in June of 2007, 35 people were water baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. God began dealing with Pastor McCloud to fervently begin looking for another location in which to worship. At the same time, God began dealing with Pastor Mark Hughes of Blessed of God Outreach Ministries to look for a ministry with whom he could bless with a place to worship and grow. In June of 2008, God directed Pastor McCloud and the FFWC congregation to move to 740 Chatham Rd. in Winston-Salem. That move proved to be one of great challenges and many victories in Jesus name. With the love of God as our central focus, the ministry continued to grow physically and spiritually. In particularly, under the leadership of our Youth Leaders, Elder John and Sis Michlin Bailey, the youth and children’s ministries began to excel by the power of God. Several auxiliaries were established including the transportation committee, Hospitality committee, security, the Fresh Gazette Team (Media Ministry), the Christian Education Dept., Family and Friends Committee, an active Outreach Ministry and the Shepherd’s Care Board. God continues to bless FFWC because we are determined to be a “Church of Excellence” for the Kingdom of God.
In June of 2010, doors opened for Fresh Fire to move yet again to another temporary location @ 20 Barber Street in Winston-Salem. While there, the Arts Dept began to flourish in which a Drama Team and an Adult Mime Team were established. Additionally, a Boys Mime Ministry, Adult Dance Ministry, Teen Dance Ministry, and a “Tiny Tots” Dance Ministry were added to the Arts Dept.

In July 2011 we were lead to make yet another move to our current location, 4306-A Kernersville Rd., Kernersville, NC. God has blessed Fresh Fire to do many great exploits. Many lives have been changed and we are a family church consisting of members who are determined to live for God according to His word!
