Our Pastor and First Lady

Pastor Phillip G. McCloud, Sr. is the last of five children born to the late Bishop Alonzo W. McCloud, Sr. and Apostle Brenda J. McCloud, presiding pastor of Tabernacle of Faith Church, Inc. of Winston-Salem, NC. Pastor McCloud is a product of the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System where he is a graduate of Mt. Tabor Senior High School. He continued his education by enrolling into Louisburg College in addition to completing course studies at Winston-Salem State University. Although he finds that education at such fine institutions of higher learning has its rewards, he accredits his most rewarding lessons to his parents who stressed the importance of living a Spirit-led and Spirit filled life in the home. Pastor McCloud is living proof that God honors His word when he says in Proverbs 22:6 to “Train up a child in the way that he should go: and when he is old he will not depart from it.” In 1989, at the age of 17, he acknowledged his call into the ministry and preached his initial sermon in January, 1990. Pastor McCloud served faithfully to the body of TOF under the close supervision of his father, the late Bishop A.W. McCloud, Sr. who ordained him in August 1997 to the office of Elder. In August, 2001 he was elevated to the office of Co-Pastor by Apostle Brenda J. McCloud. In addition to his duties as the Co-Pastor of Tabernacle of Faith Church, Pastor McCloud served faithfully as directed by the Holy Spirit, as the Youth Pastor. His responsibilities included the implementation, supervision, and coordination of all youth related events.

“... From heaven he made you hear his voice to discipline you. On earth he showed you his great fire, and you heard his words from out of the fire.” Deuteronomy 4:36

In December of 2006, Elder McCloud answered the call to Pastor when God instructed him to open the doors of Fresh Fire Worship Center located in Winston-Salem, NC. The first service was held on January 7, 2007. God has proven Himself faithful to His word concerning the church and promises to Pastor PG McCloud, Sr. Believing that it is God who gives increase, He has added to the church daily. In June 2007 at our 1st Baptismal service, 37 individuals were water Baptized. Under his leadership many organizations were established including a solid and growing Men’s Ministry, a Developing College and Young Adult Ministry, Youth and Children’s Ministries, and Family development Ministries where both families with married couples or single parent homes are developed.

Pastor McCloud is married to the former Genevieve Michelle Phifer of Charlotte, NC who works diligently at his side. They are the proud parents of two children, Phillip, Jr. (PJ), and Brenia Genean.

Pastor Phillip G. McCloud, Sr. is a true testimony to the power and faithfulness of God, which is evident through his sermons and Bible study lessons. Drawing from his own personal experiences of spiritual deliverance, he is especially anointed to minister a word of spiritual healing and wholeness to the Body of Christ. Pastor McCloud operates with the wisdom of God as he extracts from the Holy Scriptures revelatory messages that bring deliverance to hurting people and challenges them to move toward their God ordained destinies. He is blessed with an anointing that transcends cross culturally mainly because of his unconditional love for people. He desires to see men and women live prosperous lives, walk in the wisdom of God and live a life that will lead others to Christ. For II Corinthians 3:2 declares “Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men.”

1st Lady Genevieve Michelle Phifer McCloud is the youngest daughter of Rev. Barabara P.Thomas and Mr. Warren Phifer. From Mooresville, NC 1st Lady McCloud’s family moved to Charlotte where she lived until graduating from college. Her family attended Walls Memorial AME Zion Church where she was an active member of the youth department, Sunday School, youth Bible study group, and the youth and young adult choirs. 1st Lady McCloud learned a lot about the character of God by watching her grandfather, the late Elder Robert Lee Pyant, Sr. as he lead several churches while serving as pastor and district elder in both the Pee Dee and Western North Carolina Conferences of the AME Zion Church.

1st Lady McCloud is a graduate of Garinger Senior High School. Her involvement as a student leader and an honor roll student placed her in position to receive a full 4 year academic scholarship to Johnson C. Smith University located in Charlotte, NC. In college, she received honorable recognition for both scholastic and social achievements. In 1990 she received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Chemistry. 1st Lady McCloud continued graduate studies as a Biology Education major at North Carolina A&T State University located in Greensboro, NC.

Although she finds that education and involvement at such fine institutions of higher learning has its rewards, she accredits her most rewarding lessons to her life experiences that have prepared her to function as the first Lady of Fresh Fire Worship Center, Inc. where her husband, Elder Phillip G. McCloud, Sr., pastors. At the age of 13, God revealed Himself to 1st Lady McCloud through a vision using the text Exodus 33:12-23. In verses 12 and 13 God confirmed both His call and His continued presence to her. “And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight. Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.” From this encounter, God began placing mentors in 1st Lady McCloud’s life who were indeed examples of the Faith and more than capable in setting her on the path to leading others in “The Faith”. Along with her mother and grandfather she credits her most valued learned lessons from teachings about the Faith to The Late Rev. Dr. Jerry Tyrone and 1st Lady Frankie White, Rev. Dr. Sheldon and Theresa Shipman all of whom were her childhood Pastors at Walls Memorial AME Zion Church, Pastors Robyn and Marlyn Gool of Victory Christian Center in Charlotte, NC, Pastor Ronald L. and 1st Lady Joyce Diggs of Word of Life Tabernacle in High Point, NC, and The late Bishop Alonzo and Apostle Brenda McCloud of Greater Tabernacle Worship Center in Winston-Salem, NC.

“... From heaven he made you hear his voice to discipline you. On earth he showed you his great fire, and you heard his words from out of the fire.” Deuteronomy 4:36

In December of 2006, her husband, Elder McCloud answered the call to Pastor when God instructed him to open the doors of Fresh Fire Worship Center, Inc. located in Winston-Salem, NC. Lady McCloud assists her husband in many facets of ministry. She is gifted in Administration and she utilizes her skills of leadership and service by leading the “Women of Unity” Women’s ministry, serving as the Children’s Church teacher, Church Worship Leader and Choir Director and many administrative roles necessary for the survival, support and growth of the ministry. As she labors with her husband in building the body of Christ, 1st Lady McCloud believes, lives and encourages others in the scripture I Corinthians 12: 4-7, “Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.” She firmly believes that everyone in the body of Christ has a gift and that together we can all perfect the body causing it to profit as we pursue God in the development of the gift.

Pastor Phillip and 1st Lady McCloud are the proud parents of two children, Phillip, Jr. (PJ), and Brenia Genean.
